All I Want for Christmas is an Outdoor Fire Pit

During the winter it is often a challenge to find activities that don’t involve being cooped up indoors.  If you live in a cold climate there is ice skating and sled riding, which wont cost a lot of money providing you already have a supply of skates, sleds and warm clothing.. Then you can end the day by relaxing next to a warm fire inside or even filling up a big thermos full of hot cocoa and heading out to the backyard and relax around an outdoor fire pit.

fire pit is not only a nice addition to your backyard but could potentially be a wise investment that adds value to your home. I don’t have one yet but it is definitely on my Christmas list to myself (or should I say for the family since we will all enjoy it).  One of my favorite ways to spend an evening is with my brother and his family, sitting around his fire pit. In fact, every July 4th we can see the fireworks from his backyard so we spend a fun evening watching the night sky light up while we keep warm and toast marshmallows in his fire pit.

I live in the Northeast with sometimes brutal winters but I imagine that an outdoor fire pit could still be used on a mild winter evening.  I can also see the benefits of having a fire pit in warmer climates to be enjoyed year round.  Just imagine what fun it would be to have a New Years Eve party in the backyard as you are toasting in the New Year under the stars.

There are a lot of different types and styles of fire pits including patina fire pits, chimineas, fire pits with grills to cook on and even portable fire pits.  You will also find them in different price ranges to fit your budget.  And yes, living the frugal lifestyle is important but with the way the economy is now I would rather buy something nice that I can enjoy over and over.  After all, even the most frugal vacations can set you back a few hundred dollars if not more.  I would much rather buy something once that can be enjoyed over and over with family and friends, especially something like a new fire pit that will add warmth and a nice atmosphere for plenty of frugal entertaining.
