Need Last Minute Gift Ideas? How About a Picnic Basket

This month I have definately been following a theme as far as gifts ideas are concerned, with the theme being “gifts for the hard to buy for”. Here is another idea that you might not have considered that would be a perfect gift for just about anyone  including the hard to buy for people on your list:  A nice picnic basket.

Remember the old fashioned picnics they show on tv  where mom loaded up the basket with fried chicken or sandwiches, a few tasty side dishes and lemonade? Off the family would go to the park for a nice relaxing picnic. A large blanket would be spread out on the ground then everyone ate delicious food and relaxed  while the children played nearby.  Nowadays picnic baskets have come along way. There are insulated totes, which are great for transporting foods that need to stay chilled. Others may prefer a more traditional wicker  picnic basket since it brings back memories of old fashioned picnics.

Many of the picnic baskets on the market are ready made for gift giving and are stocked with everything needed for a traditional picnic including  dinnerware, cloth napkins, salt and pepper shakers and more. You can also find romantic picnic baskets that come equipped with a cheese board, wine glasses and a corkscrew (these would also make great bridal shower or wedding gifts). You can even find updated versions of traditional wicker baskets that offer insulated compartments to keep food cold.

It may seem strange to talk about picnic baskets this time of year so why wait to have a picnic?  Children love picnics and often don’t understand that nice weather may be several months away. Why not curb winter boredom with an indoor picnic in your livingroom?  Just imagine how much fun it would be to have a nice picnic in a warm and cozy livingroom while watching a good family movie. Picnics make great memories that last a lifetime so start building memories with indoor picnics and before you know it warm weather will be here once again.
